Council for Court Excellence

Founded in 1982 in Washington, DC, the Council for Court Excellence is a nonprofit, nonpartisan civic organization working to improve the administration of justice in the local and federal courts and related agencies in the Washington metropolitan area and in the nation. The Council achieves that goal by identifying and promoting court reforms, improving public access to justice, and increasing public awareness of and support for our justice system.

Victor E. Long, a founding partner of Regan Zambri Long PLLC, serves on the Executive Committee of the Council for Court Excellence and has been on the CCE Board of Directors for more than ten years. Mr. Long conducted an interview with Robert J. Spagnoletti, Attorney General of the District of Columbia, for the Summer 2005 issue of the Council for Court Excellence Newsletter.

In the interview, Spagnoletti discussed his years as a federal prosecutor, including founding the U.S. Attorney’s Office Domestic Violence Unit and restructuring the former Office of the Corporation Counsel into the Office of the Attorney General. He also discussed the office’s priorities in public safety and child support enforcement, along with a new pro bono program that brought private-firm attorneys in as Special Assistant Attorneys General.
