If you were involved in a car accident with a stolen vehicle, you may experience some problems with your insurance claim. Chances are the stole vehicle does not have valid insurance coverage for the accident. If you do get into an accident with a stolen vehicle, follow these steps:
When dealing with a stolen vehicle accident, you may face some problems with the insurance company. The stolen vehicle’s owner’s insurance may not cover the damages since the car was being used without permission. You can also face claims processing delays as the police investigate the crime.
You may be wondering who will pay for the damages and medical bills. Washington, DC, is a no-fault jurisdiction, meaning that your insurance company will pay for your expenses regardless of who is at fault for the accident. If you have uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage, this may cover your damages, medical expenses, and personal injury protection insurance (PIP). Your insurance company will likely try to recover the costs from the thief.
