On October 22, 2016, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will host its National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The initiative aims to “provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.” In May, the DEA collected 893,498 pounds of unwanted medicines – the most since its inception in 2010 – and looks to increase this number.
