Three Pool Safety Tips and What to Do When Disaster Strikes

5 stars

Picture of Backyard Pool at DaytimeSummer is winding down, and fall is almost here. The days are still warm enough that you might still be using a pool, or you might be getting ready to preserve your pool for the fall and winter months. In either case, there are three common pool safety tips that you should follow and certain steps you should take if an injury occurs.

Never Leave Children Unattended

You should never allow a child to swim by themselves, regardless of how old they are or how well they can swim. In fact, it is a very good idea for even adults to have a buddy while swimming. Pool accidents can happen, and if there is no one around to help you, serious injury or drowning can occur. Make sure that you always have someone with you or your child while they are in the pool.

Keep Pools Enclosed

It is a good idea for pools to remain enclosed at all times, and they should only be accessible to authorized or accompanied individuals. This will help ensure that children and pets cannot accidentally wander into the pool area and fall into the pool or have another type of accident. Even if your pool is covered for the winter, accidents can happen that can cause severe injury.

Keep Pool Areas Clean

It is important to keep pool areas clean and free from debris. Any tripping or slip hazards could cause someone to fall into the pool. If it is emptied and ready for fall and winter, injuries from such a fall could be significant.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a pool accident, it is important to seek medical attention and get help paying the related expenses. If the accident was caused by someone’s negligence, you may be entitled to compensation. Contact us today for more information or to schedule a consultation.
