Another bizarre incident involving DC’s WMATA transportation system has occurred, this time with the bus system instead of their seemingly-plagued subway system. According to the Washington Post, a Metro bus was hijacked in downtown Washington today by a “violent and resistant” suspect. Although details are scarce at this time, the suspect appeared to have a weapon and the driver was slightly injured. He and the passengers escaped through a back door of the bus. Most shockingly about the whole incident was that the hijacked bus then jumped two curbs and ran over and killed a pedestrian.

As I have posted many times in the past, Metro’s lack of attention to safety has created a never-ending nightmare for commuters. This latest incident may be another case of lax safety standards leading to another unnecessary death.
