Tomorrow is the big day when Americans cast their vote for the next President of the United States of America. IT’S NOVEMBER 3rd, ELECTION DAY! Although this election cycle may differ from the ones before, it is still our civic duty to promote and protect our democracy while also staying safe from COVID-19.
Here are some helpful tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC regarding Election Day safety:
Know when you are safe to be around others, especially if you have had COVID or have been exposed;
Bring your own supplies, i.e. an extra mask, tissue, hand sanitizer, black ink pen, water;
Bring all necessary documentation, and identification;
Always wear a mask when around other people;
Be cautious taking public transportation and avoid touching anything;
Wash your hands before and after voting, or use sanitizer if hand-washing isn’t possible;
Make certain your hands are completely dry before touching any voting equipment to;
Social distance as much as possible, even if you are wearing a mask.
In an election period where stress levels are at an all-time high, don’t forget to take care of your mental health.
Other common-sense Election Day advice includes:
Find your polling place beforehand,;
Research the candidates and amendments before going to the poll;
Bring water and snacks in case of a long line.
Most importantly, be informed and exercise your right to vote.
