Local news sources are reporting a deadly early morning accident in Baltimore between an MTA (Maryland Transit Administration) commuter bus and a school bus. Although details are sketchy at this time, police have indicated that six fatalities are confirmed. Fortunately, no children were on the school bus at the time of the crash.

From the crash photo, it appears that speed may have been a factor. Commuters are advised to avoid the crash area in southwest Baltimore. I plan to update readers as more details are available.

Updated at 5:43 pm – Drivers of both buses were killed in the crash when the school bus crashed into the MTA bus. Four passengers on the MTA bus were also killed. No students were on the school bus. In addition to the six deaths, another ten passengers were injured. Apparently, the school bus rear-ended a Ford Mustang and hit a cement pillar before plowing into the side of the MTA bus. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Baltimore police are investigating the crash.
